Ewan to lead well-rounded line-up for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
Caleb Ewan Leads Team Jayco AlUla’s Well-Rounded Line-Up for Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race is about to witness Team Jayco AlUla showcasing a motivated and in-form roster, as they gear up to tackle the unpredictable 174.3km parcours. The race, known for its challenging landscapes along the Great Ocean Road and hilly circuits utilized in the 2010 UCI World Road Race Championships, promises an exhilarating test for the riders.
Team Jayco AlUla, spearheaded by Australian Criterium Champion Caleb Ewan, is backed by a formidable assembly of talent. Chris Harper and Kelland O´Brien, who demonstrated their prowess in climbing during the recent Tour Down Under, are expected to play pivotal roles in the demanding hilly circuits around Geelong. Joining them are new additions – Blake Quick and Rudy Porter, providing essential support, and New Zealand Commonwealth Games Champion and Olympic medalist, Campbell Stewart.
Despite a setback during the Tour Down Under, Australian Road Race Champion Luke Plapp is on the path to recovery and is poised to bolster the team. Commenting on the team’s preparation, Chris Harper expressed confidence, stating, “I´m feeling pretty good after Tour Down Under. I think we have a well-balanced team with a couple of guys who can follow around on the climbs and obviously, Caleb for the finish if it all comes back together. It´s the last race of the Aussie Summer so hopefully we can finish it off well.”
Highlighting the team’s versatility, Sport Director Matthew Hayman emphasized the multiple options Team Jayco AlUla possesses, noting the impressive form of Chris and Kell and the resilience of Luke. He commented, “Coming out of Tour Down Under with guys like Chris and Kell having such great form gives us options in the final. I am also surprised and happy with how Luke has bounced back after his crash. It´s great to have the National Champion back racing with the team.”
With such a strong and varied lineup, Team Jayco AlUla is poised to make a significant impact at the 2024 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.
