Enzo Paleni managed to secure a spot in the breakaway during stage 5 of the Volta a Catalunya, showcasing his strength and form in a fast-paced battle. Although the peloton reeled in the escapees, Paleni’s performance provided a morale boost as the race gears up for the challenging stages ahead.

The intense competition for a breakaway position led to a fierce fight within the peloton, with multiple teams and riders vying for the opportunity to go ahead. Paleni reflected on the demanding start, noting, “The battle was on for two hours and ninety kilometers before the break went away.” His ability to stay at the front and participate in strong efforts highlighted his good form and determination.

Despite the breakaway’s efforts, the peloton closed in on the escape group before the final climb, setting the stage for a sprint finish won by Axel Laurance. Lenny Martinez, holding onto the white jersey, maintained his position ahead of the challenging stages to come. Team director Thierry Bricaud acknowledged the upcoming difficulties, stating, “Tomorrow’s stage is probably the hardest.”
