Another podium result for Marco Frigo in the Vuelta

# Marco Frigo Secures Second Podium Finish in Vuelta a España

Marco Frigo delivered an impressive performance on stage 15 of the Vuelta a España, clinching third place and marking his second podium finish in the prestigious race.

Frigo expressed his excitement after the race, stating, “Today was a good day to be there and fight for the win. We have to make the most of these kinds of opportunities and in the end, it was another Grand Tour podium.”

The stage opened with a challenging 16 km climb, setting a tough pace for the peloton. A significant breakaway soon formed, with Frigo and teammate Jake Stewart playing key roles. As the front group began to fracture, Frigo found himself in a small pack alongside pre-race favorite Mads Pedersen from Lidl-Trek, recognizing the challenge he posed in a sprint finish.

“In the last kilometers, my idea was to come from the back of the group and try a late attack. With about 1.5 km to go, I was in a good position to do so, but then Jay Vine [UAE] did that exact thing,” Frigo noted. “I tried later on, towards the very end, but Pedersen was closing down all the attacks. He deserved to win.”

IPT sports director Daryl Impey commended the teamwork exhibited by Frigo and Stewart throughout the stage. “Jake and Marco were the two guys we wanted to have in the break today. We knew the final un-categorized climb was hard, so we let Marco do his thing and then, if Jake could make it over, we would do the sprint with him, as he was one of the fastest guys in the group.”

Impey added, “Marco did everything right in the final, going through that last corner first, but we also knew that it would be really difficult to beat Pedersen on a finish like this. However, to walk away with a podium from a group of initially 47 riders is a successful day for us and we still have some good chances in the last week.”

As the Vuelta progresses, fans and teammates alike are eager to see what Frigo can achieve in the remaining stages of the race.
