Edoardo Affini Finishes Third in Vuelta a Burgos Stage 1 after Roglic’s Comeback

In the first stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, Italian cyclist Edoardo Affini of Team Jumbo-Visma sprinted to a third-place finish after a strong comeback by teammate Primoz Roglic. The stage took the riders from Villalba de Duero to Burgos, covering a distance of 161 kilometers.

A group of five riders broke away from the peloton early on and built up a three-minute lead. However, their adventure came to an end just 12 kilometers from the finish line. Team Jumbo-Visma worked hard to protect Roglic throughout the race and positioned Affini well for the final sprint.

Despite losing a few places at a roundabout, Affini gave it his all and settled for third place. He said, “The guys did a good job of putting me in the front… I did my best to get a good result, and I think I succeeded.”

Roglic, who returned to racing after winning the Giro d’Italia three months ago, sees the Vuelta a Burgos as ideal preparation for the upcoming Vuelta a España. He said, “It’s good to be back in the peloton… now it’s time to race again and find my rhythm.”

Both Roglic and Affini successfully completed the stage without any problems. The race continues with more stages, providing an exciting opportunity for the riders to showcase their skills and continue their preparation for future competitions.
