Cyclist Simone Velasco Impresses with Third Place Finish on Stage 5 of Tirreno-Adriatico
Simone Velasco of the Astana Qazaqstan Team showed his strength and determination on Stage 5 of the Tirreno-Adriatico race, securing a solid third place finish.
Velasco broke away from the peloton and joined a group of riders after 70 km of racing. The breakaway worked together effectively, maintaining a good lead, with Velasco proving to be one of the most active riders in the group.
On the penultimate climb, French rider Warren Barguil made a strong attack and went on to claim a solo victory. Velasco immediately began chasing but finished in third place, 14 seconds behind Barguil.
In an interview, Velasco expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, “It was a good chance for a stage win, but I finished third. However, I am happy with the legs and my feeling during the stage. I feel like I am improving day by day and I hope I will get a really good form for the next races.”
Astana’s team leader Miguel Angel Lopez also had a strong performance, finishing in the lead group and moving up to fifth place in the General Classification.
The Tirreno-Adriatico race continues, with Velasco and his teammates looking to build on their impressive performances.
