Corbin Strong sprints to victory in rainy Britain to secure first professional win
After a strong team effort in the Tour of Britain, Corbin Strong has clinched his first professional cycling victory. In a thrilling finish on a long and steep final climb, Strong sprinted to the win, earning the coveted leader’s jersey.
Reflecting on his win, Strong expressed his gratitude for his teammates’ support, stating, “The whole team believed in me… I am super proud I could finish it off.” Strong acknowledged the pivotal contributions of his teammates Reto Hollenstein, Michael Woods, and Dylan Teuns in securing his victory.
In addition to his triumph, Strong also praised the weather conditions in rainy Britain, remarking, “It felt like home… I am very used to these conditions.” The challenging terrain and wet roads were no match for Strong’s skills, as he strategically positioned himself among his teammates for the final climb.
Describing his race strategy, Strong revealed, “Woods and Teuns helped me a lot in the final, and afterward I followed the team Ineos train. I felt I had a powerful sprint left in me and decided to launch just before the road flattened out.”
With the leader’s jersey on his shoulders, Strong is determined to defend it. He expressed confidence in his team, stating, “I think we can keep it till the end… We’ve got the right riders to win the Tour of Britain this year.”
