Corbin Strong seals Arctic Race of Norway victory

# Corbin Strong Dominates Arctic Race of Norway with Comprehensive Victory

Corbin Strong has triumphed in the Arctic Race of Norway, claiming the overall title alongside a stage win, two second-place finishes, and victories in both the youth and sprint classifications. This remarkable performance marks the 20th win for Israel – Premier Tech this season, highlighting Strong’s skill and determination throughout four intense days of racing.

Kicking off the final stage, an arduous eight-lap hilly circuit in Tromsø, Strong held a six-second advantage over rival Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team). From the very beginning, Strong’s teammates took charge, diligently managing the race dynamics to counter any breakaway threats.

“It was an incredibly stressful day actually,” Strong reflected. “I knew we would be under attack from kilometer zero but it exceeded my expectation, especially the few first laps in the rain. It was really stressful, and with the wet descents as well, which I know is a strength of Pidcock, so I was really nervous for today, and the first laps were even more out of control than I expected.”

Strong credited his team’s exceptional support throughout the race: “My team was just incredible today. We were first, fourth, ninth, and 15th on GC coming into today, so we have an incredibly strong team here. Those boys just put it all on the line today and I owe this win to them because they were incredible and I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Every second proved critical on this high-stakes day. After teammate Riley Sheehan secured maximum time bonus at the first intermediate sprint, Strong allowed Pidcock to gain a second in the second sprint, reducing his lead to five seconds. Nick Schultz then set a blistering pace in the final laps, strategically thinning the peloton while Sheehan helped fend off attacks right up to the last sprint.

Ultimately, Strong claimed second place on the stage, sealing the General Classification victory. Sheehan concluded the race in a commendable fourth overall position.

Bolstered by his recent maiden GC win at the Ethias Tour de Wallonie, Strong spoke about his confidence heading into the season’s latter half: “I knew in Wallonie I felt really good and strong on the climbs, so I was quietly confident I could do a decent GC result here. I didn’t expect to win, so being in the yellow jersey and finishing it off today with my teammates is a really nice feeling.”

Sports Director Alex Cataford applauded the team’s collective effort over the four-day competition: “We came in this week knowing Corbin was in super good form after his recent win in Wallonie. Our original goals were a stage win and a top-three finish in the GC, and Corbin knocked off the first goal on stage one, which was amazing. The team rallied around him.”

Cataford added, “It was a very challenging last day but we had a really strong team around Corbin. It was also really good to see Riley Sheehan finish fourth. Our guys rode superbly around a superb leader.”

With this victory, Corbin Strong not only cements his status as a formidable cyclist but also sets a strong precedent as he gears up for more challenges in the remainder of the season.
