The AlUla Tour 2024 recently concluded, presenting a challenging opportunity for the team to showcase their abilities in unprecedented racing conditions and an unusual setting. As the team took on the Saudi territory over five days of competition, they demonstrated admirable self-sacrifice and determination.
The first stage saw the riders starting from Al Manshiya Train Station for a 149km long course, featuring a profile seemingly destined for sprinters. The victory eventually came down to a massive sprint, with Jason Tesson finishing in 13th position.
The subsequent stages tested the team’s collective strength and endurance, as they struggled with difficult weather conditions and intense wind in the Saudi desert. Despite the challenges, the team put up a resilient performance, with Pierre Latour leading alone under the red flame in the final stretch of stage two, eventually finishing in 9th position.
The perseverance continued as the peloton broke up several times due to increasing wind intensity in stage 3, and the team’s Emilien Jeannière achieved a top 10 place in stage 4. Despite a crash on the penultimate stage, Pierre Latour showed exceptional resilience in the final climb to Harrat Uwayrid, finishing just 5 seconds behind the stage winner.
