Campbell Stewart Sprints to Victory on the Final Stage of the CRO Race

New Zealand cyclist Campbell Stewart secured an impressive win on the final stage of the CRO Race in Zagreb for Team Jayco AlUla. Stewart, who had shown his speed throughout the six days of racing, delivered his first victory by skillfully maneuvering through the chaos and crossing the finish line ahead of his rivals.

The last stage of the race favored the fast finishers, and Team Jayco AlUla focused on keeping Stewart safe during the 157km stage. Lukas Pöstlberger played a crucial role in positioning Stewart for the sprint, providing a perfect lead-out before Stewart unleashed his powerful sprint in the closing kilometers.

Reflecting on his win, Stewart expressed his team’s determination to secure a stage victory throughout the race: “We’ve been trying all week [to win a stage], we came here with hopes of me getting a stage and then also Eddie [Dunbar] for the GC. It’s been awesome and a great way to wrap up the season here in Croatia!”

The final stage results showed Stewart crossing the line in first place with a time of 3:17:49. Alexander Kristoff and Gal Glivar finished in second and third place, respectively. In the overall general classification, Orluis Aular claimed victory with a time of 22:59:38, followed closely by Alexander Kristoff and Ethan Hayter. Eddie Dunbar, also from Team Jayco AlUla, achieved a commendable 12th place.

Stewart’s win on the final stage of the CRO Race is a significant milestone in his career and sets a positive tone for Team Jayco AlUla as they wrap up their season in Croatia.
