Bunel impresses in first uphill finish La Vuelta Femenina

On the Alto de Rozavientos, the other tough climb to be conquered, the peloton was thinned out considerably. Bunel managed to stay in front and went up the final climb with a group of about twenty riders.

There the young Frenchwoman again made a strong impression. Bunel clung to the group of favorites for a long time, but had to pass when Demi Vollering attacked. Riding at her own pace, Bunel fought her way to seventh place. “I waited a long time for this,” said a happy Bunel. “Things haven’t been so smooth this season and that affected my confidence a little bit. It was hard to keep the focus, but today I told myself to believe in myself. I’m super happy with my performance today.”
