Bunel claims French national U23 title
# Marion Bunel Triumphs in French National U23 Cycling Championship
Marion Bunel has realized a long-held aspiration by securing the French national U23 cycling title. “Becoming French champion has always been a dream of mine, and today that dream has come true,” she expressed after crossing the finish line. “A national title is one of the highest achievements in cycling, so I am extremely proud to be able to wear this tricolour jersey.”
From the outset of the race, Bunel, a promising rider with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women, displayed remarkable control. She quickly forged a breakaway alongside fellow competitor Célia Gery. The duo worked seamlessly to establish a significant lead. With just under twenty kilometres remaining, Bunel made her decisive move, soloing ahead to clinch the national title convincingly.
Reflecting on her strategy, Bunel noted, “A national championship is always a special race tactically, so I knew I had to be alert from the start. Today, it was to my advantage to attack. The course was also conducive to that. Together with Célia, I managed to build up a solid lead. I had a hard time after she accelerated, but I knew I had to keep fighting. I kept encouraging myself, and that resulted in something very beautiful.”
Bunel’s victory marks a significant milestone in her cycling career, as she dons the tricolour jersey with pride, symbolizing her achievement on a national level in women’s cycling.
