Ben Swift Secures Bronze at Gravel Worlds as Matej Mohoric Claims Victory
British cyclist Ben Swift secured a bronze medal at the prestigious Gravel Worlds event in Veneto. After breaking into the initial group of riders, Swift managed to stay on the right side of a crucial split that saw three riders vie for the podium places. Despite getting distanced on the Viglio climb, Swift was able to limit his losses and set a steady pace for the final 25 kilometers of the race.
The race saw Matej Mohoric of Slovenia surge ahead and eventually claim victory, finishing 45 seconds ahead of Florian Vermeersch from Belgium. Swift crossed the finish line 3 minutes and 40 seconds later, successfully fending off a chasing group led by Alejandro Valverde from Spain.
This podium finish at Gravel Worlds adds to Swift’s growing success in gravel racing, following his previous triumph in The Gralloch gravel series race in May and his second-place finish at the British national championships. As Swift demonstrates his versatility across different types of races, he continues to establish himself as a formidable competitor in the cycling world.
