Bauhaus Leads Young Squad at Ronde van Limburg
# Phil Bauhaus Heads Bahrain Victorious Lineup at Ronde van Limburg
Phil Bauhaus will take the helm for the Bahrain Victorious team at the upcoming Ronde van Limburg, aiming for a strong showing, particularly if the race culminates in a bunch sprint. The German sprinter is backed by teammates Alberto Bruttomesso and Alessandro Borgo, who form a solid support system around the team’s sprint ambitions.
Bauhaus will also be joined by a cadre of promising Development Team riders, including Seth Dunwoody, who recently showcased his prowess with a second-place finish at Paris–Roubaix Espoirs. Alongside him, Kasper Borremans and Mikita Babovich are set to capitalize on any opportunities that arise in the breakaways and will be crucial in covering critical moves during the race. Leonardo Consolidani, another member of the Development Team, is expected to play a vital role in positioning Bauhaus effectively and providing tactical support as the race unfolds.
Covering a distance of 178 kilometers, this one-day race kicks off at Kolonel Dusartplein in Hasselt and concludes on the Elisabethwal in Tongeren-Borgloon. The route is characterized by a challenging combination of climbs and cobbled sectors, sure to test the riders’ positioning and resilience as the day progresses. Following an initial phase, the peloton will loop around Bilzen-Hoeselt, tackling the demanding cobbles of the Maastrichterallee twice, alongside a double ascent of the Keiberg.
The pivotal segment of the race will feature the Limburg Loop, which will be utilized during the 2024 European Championships. This phase consists of three laps filled with the climbs of the Kolmontberg and Zammelenberg, followed by technical cobbled sections such as Manshoven and Op de Kriezel. Riders will need to remain vigilant, as crosswinds could influence the outcome.
Sports Director Enrico Gasparotto expressed his optimism, stating, “We are excited for this race. We have young riders making a step up who have already shown great potential. Phil is our leader and, if it comes to a bunch sprint, we are confident he can deliver a strong result. Seth has just shown great quality in Roubaix Espoirs, and we know Kasper and Mikita have the potential to look for opportunities. As always in these races, positioning will be crucial. It’s a great race to give our younger riders another step in their careers, but we will also be fighting for a top result.”
