Tronchon strategically positioned himself at the front of the race, aiming to gain a substantial lead before the ascent of Picon Blanco. He managed his ascent skillfully, holding off the competition and reaching the finish line ahead of the overall favorites. Hanging on until the end, Tronchon closely trailed Pavel Sivakov.

The descent posed its challenges with its technicality, but Tronchon remained composed and focused. Reflecting on his journey, Tronchon expressed his gratitude for participating in his first race as a professional trainee. He added, “I hope to continue to contribute what the team expects of me for the rest of the season.”

Team manager Vincent Lavenu expressed his delight at Tronchon’s success, referring to it as “a very nice surprise.” Lavenu has known Tronchon since his early cycling years and commended his talent and determination. Lavenu viewed Tronchon’s victory as an inspiration, particularly following the team’s previous difficulties in the race.

Regarding the team’s triumph, Tronchon’s victory marks the seventh win for the AG2R CITROËN team this season. Since its establishment in 1992, the team has celebrated 499 victories.

The 20-year-old rider has been part of the AG2R CITROËN U23 team since 2021, after spending two years with the AG2R CITROËN U19 team. Tronchon, currently pursuing a License STAPS at the Université Savoie Mont-Blanc, becomes the first AG2R CITROËN trainee to triumph since Jaan Kirsipuu’s victory in 1992.
