Bahrain Victorious Announces Strong Lineup for Québec and Montréal One-Day Races
Bahrain Victorious is gearing up for the upcoming one-day races, Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec et de Montréal, with a powerful lineup. Leading the team are Pello Bilbao and Matej Mohorič, both stage winners at this year’s Tour de France, with Jack Haig also expected to deliver a strong performance. They will be joined by young riders Nicolò Buratti, Filip Maciejuk, Fran Miholjević, and Edoardo Zambanini.
“I think both races fit our leaders Matej and Pello, and both have shown good shape in recent weeks…we have a solid lineup to support the guys as we look for a victory and top result,” said SD Enrico Poitschke.
The first race, Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, will take place on September 8. The 201km race consists of 16 12.6-kilometer laps of the Québec city circuit, with a total race altitude gain of nearly 3,000 meters. Bilbao placed 12th in last year’s edition, and the team is aiming for even better results this time.
“In Québec, it’s not such a challenging course…we will be looking to support the guys. With Matej and Pello, they can look to work together, follow attacks with one of them focusing on the final sprint and hopefully get a result,” continued Poitschke.
Two days later, the team will compete in the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal. This race is considered the tougher of the two, with 18 12.3km laps and a total altitude gain of over 4,800 meters. Poitschke believes the profile suits Bilbao better: “Montréal is the more challenging race and typically fits Pello a bit better…We are confident going into this race, where Bilbao took a top ten result last year and can challenge for more this time.”
With a strong lineup and motivated leaders, Bahrain Victorious is ready to take on the Québec and Montréal one-day races and fight for top results.
