Astana Qazaqstan Team Dominates Stage Two of Arctic Race of Norway
Italian riders Michele Gazzoli and Christian Scaroni delivered a powerful performance in the second stage of the Arctic Race of Norway, securing a 1-2 finish for Astana Qazaqstan Team in the uphill sprint in Hammerfest.
Gazzoli, who rides for Astana Qazaqstan Development Team, expressed his delight over the victory, stating, “It took one year to arrive at this moment and to this win. It means a lot to me… I want to thank Alexandr Vinokurov and Astana for a great chance and my family and all who stayed next to me during this tough period.”
Scaroni praised the team’s efforts, saying, “The team did a fantastic job today… Michele is in great form right now and his sprint was just perfect.”
The team had a strategic approach to the stage, with Scaroni explaining, “I provided some help to Christian in the intermediate sprints to take some bonus seconds, while he saw me in a good position in the final, leading me out with 300 meters.”
Astana Qazaqstan Team faced challenging weather conditions during the race but were well-prepared for them. Team director Dmitriy Fofonov commended the team’s performance, saying, “It was so nice and of course, we all are super happy with this team result.”
The Arctic Race of Norway continues, and the team is looking forward to their upcoming races and the possibility of fighting for a General Classification.
