Astana Premier Tech dominates Kazakhstan National Championships with Yevgeniy Fedorov taking the road race title

Astana – Premier Tech showcased their dominance at the 2021 edition of the Kazakhstan National Championships, securing all three places on the podium in the road race. Yevgeniy Fedorov emerged as the new Kazakh road race champion, with Yevgeniy Gidich and Artyom Zakharov rounding out the podium in second and third place respectively.

Fedorov expressed his satisfaction with the victory, stating, “I am really happy with my win and wearing the Kazakhstan national jersey makes me so proud. Now I will have a short break and then I will go to a training camp together with my team to get ready for the second half of the season.”

The race saw an early break being caught back six laps before the finish, leading to a new leading group of five Astana – Premier Tech riders who opened up a one-minute gap to the peloton. With three laps to go, Fedorov launched a solo attack, gaining a ten-second advantage.

Although Fedorov was eventually caught by the chasing group, he showcased his sprinting ability and crossed the finish line ahead of his teammates Gidich and Zakharov, clinching the national championship title.

The top three finishers in the Kazakhstan National Championships road race were:
1. Yevgeniy Fedorov (Astana – Premier Tech)
2. Yevgeniy Gidich (Astana – Premier Tech)
3. Artyom Zakharov (Astana – Premier Tech)

This victory further strengthens Astana – Premier Tech’s position as a formidable team in Kazakhstan cycling.
