Astana – Premier Tech Announces Strong Team for La Vuelta a España
Astana – Premier Tech has unveiled its experienced team for the upcoming La Vuelta a España, with a focus on competing for both the General Classification and stage wins. The team will be led by Aleksandr Vlasov, who finished fourth at this year’s Giro d’Italia.
In addition to Vlasov, the team includes Ion and Gorka Izagirre, Luis Leon Sanchez, Omar Fraile, Oscar Rodriguez, Alex Aranburu, and Yuriy Natarov. Natarov, a young Kazakh rider, will be making his debut at the Grand Tour level.
Team Performance Manager Dmitriy Fofonov expressed confidence in the team’s chances:
“We are coming to Spain with a strong roster, and I think that we will have a chance to show ourselves in a good way. Aleksandr Vlasov will be our leader and he is motivated to try to improve on his previous result here at La Vuelta… Our 24-year-old Yuriy Natarov is going to make his debut at the Vuelta and in general, at the Grand Tours. I think it is a good moment for him to make this step ahead and with the experience he will get here, he will be able to continue his progress as a professional rider.”
The 2021 La Vuelta, also known as the “Vuelta of two Cathedrals,” will take place from August 14 to September 5 and will finish in the city of Santiago de Compostela. The team will be looking to showcase the Astana – Premier Tech colors and achieve success in both the overall standings and individual stages.
