ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Team Faces Frustration at Gand-Wevelgem

Amidst the excitement and challenges of the Gand-Wevelgem competition, the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team experienced a sense of frustration as detailed by team member Sébastien Hinault. Hinault expressed, “There’s inevitably a feeling of frustration at the end of this edition of Gand-Wevelgem.”

The team had a strategic plan in place, with rider Mathis Le Berre part of the breakaway early on in the race. According to Hinault, “We had Mathis and Luca Mozzato in the first breakaway, and then Arnaud Démare came back.” However, the race took an unexpected turn when Démare encountered an unfortunate incident, as Hinault explained, “Unfortunately, with 20 km to go, on the outskirts of Ypres, Arnaud rode into a hole in the road. He broke through.”

Despite their best efforts, the team was unable to achieve the desired results, with Luca finishing 15th and expressing disappointment at being locked in during the sprint. Hinault highlighted the dedication of the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team, emphasizing that they did not receive the desired outcome despite their commitment, stating “We’re not getting paid for the commitment that the whole ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team has put into this competition.”

Ultimately, amidst the challenges faced during Gand-Wevelgem, Hinault emphasized the importance of unity within the team, reflecting on “the group’s state of mind” as a key takeaway from the event.
