Australian cyclist Allan Davis has been appointed as a sports director for Lotto Soudal starting in 2022. The 41-year-old, who will primarily focus on the sprint group, brings with him a wealth of experience in all types of races. Davis expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and the motivation to contribute to the entire team.
“I am very grateful for this opportunity to join such a professionally established structure such as Lotto Soudal, and I am profoundly motivated to implement my time and professional work ethic to the entire team,” said Allan Davis.
Davis had a successful professional career spanning 12 years, with 30 victories to his name. Some of his notable achievements include a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2010, a second-place finish at Milan-Sanremo, and overall victory at the Tour Down Under. After retiring, Davis took on various roles in the cycling world, including head DS at Wiggle-High5 and sprint coordinator/DS at Israel Startup Nation.
Lotto Soudal general manager John Lelangue expressed his confidence in Davis, stating, “Allan has the right profile which goes along with Caleb Ewan and the sprint group. We believe in what Allan can and will bring to the team.”
Davis himself is eager to start his new role and connect with the riders and staff. While admitting his limited knowledge of Flemish, he is confident in his language skills, which include English, Italian, Spanish, and French.
Allan Davis, who has been living in the Basque Country with his family for the past 20 years, is excited to embark on this new chapter with Lotto Soudal.
