Aleksandr Vlasov Secures Eighth Place in Stage 11 of La Vuelta
Aleksandr Vlasov performed well in stage 11 of La Vuelta, finishing in eighth place in Valdepeñas de Jaén. The stage featured a powerful uphill sprint on a short but extremely steep climb, and Vlasov was able to stay with the leading group, crossing the finish line just seven seconds behind the stage winner Primoz Roglic.
Vlasov expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, “It worked out pretty well, and I did a good sprint in the final, so I can be happy with my place in the Top-10 today. We had two fast and hot days here at La Vuelta after the first rest day, but more tough stages are still to come. So, let’s see how the race will go on.”
Despite missing teammate Alex Aranburu, who had to abandon the race due to injuries sustained in a previous crash, the Astana team was pleased with the outcome. Team Performance Manager Dmitriy Fofonov said, “It was a good stage for us, and Aleksandr showed today good legs on a very tough climb. We have protected our positions today and we are looking forward to the next stages here at La Vuelta.”
After the 11th stage, Aleksandr Vlasov moved up to 11th place in the General Classification, which is currently led by Odd Christian Eiking.
The stage was won by Primoz Roglic, with Enric Mas and Miguel Angel Lopez finishing second and third respectively. In addition to Vlasov’s eighth place, Ion Izagirre and Luis Leon Sanchez also had strong finishes, coming in 16th and 26th place.
