Kazakh Rider Vadim Pronskiy Suffers Multiple Fractures in Coppa Sabatini Crash

23-year-old Kazakh rider, Vadim Pronskiy, had his season cut short after sustaining multiple fractures in a crash during the Coppa Sabatini one-day race in Italy. Pronskiy was airlifted to the hospital where X-rays confirmed the extent of his injuries, including fractures in his elbow, rib, and vertebrae, as well as a pneumothorax in his lung. Fortunately, the fractures are non-displaced and do not require surgery. He is currently stable and will remain in the hospital until his pneumothorax has healed enough for road transport.

“Given the nature of his injuries, Vadim will not be able to race again this season so our focus now is on his recovery and rehabilitation,” said Dr. Andrei Mikhailov.

In a separate crash, rider Harold Tejada also suffered injuries, but he escaped without any fractures. However, due to a cervical distortion and multiple contusions, Tejada will not participate in the upcoming Memorial Marco Pantani race.
