Aleks Vlasov Takes Second Place on Queen Stage of Vuelta a Burgos
Russian cyclist Aleksandr Vlasov impressed on the queen stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, finishing in second place and moving up to second place in the general classification. The stage featured a challenging climb up the Picón Blanco, where Vlasov showcased his climbing abilities and strong form. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to catch the winner, Primož Roglič, in the final sprint.
“The race really exploded on the climb. I did my best but it was quite hot and it wasn’t easy. I was dropped a bit, but after I found my rhythm I was able to close the gap in the descent. In the final sprint I tried to follow Roglič because he is very explosive, but in the end he was just too fast. I think that today, second place was the best result that I could achieve, so I am very happy with the result. With two days to go now, I’m now second overall, so I’m in a pretty good position,” said Aleksandr Vlasov.
The Vuelta a Burgos is a five-stage road cycling race held in Spain, attracting top cyclists from around the world. Vlasov’s strong performance on the queen stage puts him in contention for an overall podium finish.
