Alec Segaert Secures Silver in Belgian Time Trial Championships
Alec Segaert, a 20-year-old rider from ProTeam, has won the silver medal at the Belgian time trial championships in Herzele. Segaert finished the 41-kilometer course in 52’42”, coming in second only to Wout Van Aert.
Reflecting on his performance, Segaert expressed his happiness at his achievement. He said, “To immediately take silver in my first Belgian ITT championships with the pros definitely makes me very happy. To be honest, I didn’t expect this result and maybe this second place became a possibility due to the known circumstances.”
Segaert also credited his recent victory in the Giro Next Gen time trial for boosting his confidence. He explained, “Winning the Giro Next Gen time trial gave me a lot of confidence. Those eight days of racing were ideal to sharpen my shape some more towards this Belgian championship.”
Looking ahead to the Belgian road race in Izegem, Segaert expressed his eagerness to contribute to the team. He said, “A race of 230 kilometers will also be a new experience for me but the shape is there and I want to contribute my share to the team. And because I am racing close to my home, it will motivate me even more.”
With his impressive silver medal in the Belgian time trial championships, Alec Segaert is proving himself as a rising star in the world of professional cycling.
