After an early exit from the Giro d’Italia, Caleb Ewan is back on track and ready to compete. His knee injury is healing well, and it will not affect his participation in the upcoming Tour de France. Ewan will make his comeback at the Baloise Belgium Tour, which will take place from June 9th to June 13th.
“I just hope I didn’t lose too much of my shape because I really needed more race rhythm. That is why I was so disappointed to pull out of the Giro with the ‘maglia ciclamino’ on my shoulders. The plan was to continue for at least another week and trying to reward the team with a third stage victory,” says Caleb Ewan.
The General Manager of Lotto Soudal, John Lelangue, believes that the Baloise Belgium Tour is an ideal race for Ewan to prepare for the Tour de France. “If everything falls into place, there should be around seven sprint opportunities where Caleb can go for one or more stage wins,” adds Lelangue.
Lotto Soudal faced significant challenges at the Giro d’Italia, with several riders having to withdraw from the race. Lelangue assures that the team will continue to race aggressively and showcase their attacking style. “We will keep on racing aggressively, starting at the Critérium du Dauphiné,” he concludes.
Meanwhile, Kobe Goossens, who had to leave the Giro due to a crash, has received positive news. He did not sustain any fractures, and after resuming training, he plans to return to racing at the Tour de Suisse.
