In the highly competitive Grand Prix de Plouay, a dynamic effort from Team Visma | Lease a Bike saw Marianne Vos sprint to an impressive second place, following a day filled with teamwork and strategy. The race featured a large breakaway of 23 riders, including notable cyclists Eva van Agt and Margaux Vigié, who initially built an advantage of over three minutes but couldn’t maintain it for the win.
The turning point came on the challenging local finishing circuits, where Team Visma showcased their strength and cohesion. Riders Femke de Vries, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, and Vos consistently pushed the pace, leading to a select group forming as they approached the finish line. Ultimately, Vos crossed the line just behind Mischa Bredewold, who claimed victory.
Reflecting on the race, De Vries commented, “It was a good day. A big group went clear with Margaux in it, so we had to wait and see how the race would unfold. In the end, the peloton came back together, and I wanted to launch Pauline for an attack, but suddenly I had a good gap myself, which allowed Marianne and Pauline to save their energy.”
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot echoed this sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance: “It was nice to be back in the race. As a team, we performed well today. Eva and Margaux did an excellent job in the breakaway, and later we were also able to show ourselves in the finale. I’m happy with how we raced together, and it feels good to have some race kilometers in the legs again.”
In the final standings, Vos secured second place with a time of 04:22:48, while Eline Jansen of the VolkerWessels Cycling Team rounded out the podium in third. Other Team Visma riders included Femke de Vries in 18th place, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in 20th, Eva van Agt in 52nd, Margaux Vigié in 61st, and Sophie von Berswordt in 63rd.
