Additions to the Jumbo-Visma Team as Hagenes Wins Münsterland Giro

Norwegian cyclist Per Strand Hagenes has emerged as the victor in the prestigious Münsterland Giro race, taking over from Olav Kooij as the champion. Hagenes, who is set to make the jump to the WorldTour team next season, expressed his excitement for the upcoming races, especially the classics, where he believes he can further develop his skills.

Hagenes’s win marks his third victory of the season, following his triumphs in the Profronde van Drenthe and an stage in the 4 Jours de Dunkerque. The win also adds to Team Jumbo-Visma’s impressive record, bringing their total number of victories to 65.

The Münsterland Giro, known for its challenging and unpredictable course, experienced turbulent weather conditions, with strong winds and heavy rain. Despite this, Hagenes, along with teammates Jos van Emden, Jesse Kramer, and Tim van Dijke, stayed focused and competitive among the tough competition. The team’s strong performance resulted in Hagenes successfully breaking away from the peloton and claiming his well-deserved victory.

Reflecting on his win, Hagenes praised the teamwork and determination of his fellow riders. He shared, “We played it smart and had three of us in the breakaway group. The cooperation remained strong after the hilly section, and we had confidence that we could make it. It was a matter of keep going and giving it our all. In the final kilometers, Christophe [Laporte] told me to go for it. I took a chance, and it turned out to be the right one. I only realized I had won when I saw the staff cheering.”

Looking ahead to the future, Hagenes expressed his anticipation for the upcoming season and his aspirations in the classics races. He stated, “The classics should suit me, and those are the races where I can truly develop. I hope to compete a lot and, most importantly, learn a great deal.”

With Hagenes’s victory in the Münsterland Giro, it is clear that Team Jumbo-Visma’s continued success is built on the talents and determination of their cycling roster. The team shows no signs of slowing down as they strive for even more victories in the future.
