Team Visma | Lease a Bike shifts focus to team time trial after trouble-free second stage in Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
# Team Visma | Lease a Bike Sets Sights on Team Time Trial Following Smooth Stage Two in Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Team Visma | Lease a Bike is shifting its focus to the upcoming team time trial after navigating the longest stage of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes without incident. The second stage spanned a grueling 234 kilometers, starting in Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux and featuring a series of rolling hills and categorized climbs.
Early in the race, a breakaway group of ten riders formed, quickly expanding their lead over the peloton. As the race drew to a close, although the gap diminished, the leaders remained in control. Danish rider Anthon Charmig emerged victorious in Le Puy-en-Velay, with the peloton finishing more than three minutes behind.
In the overall standings, Ben Tulett marked his position in fifth place, trailing leader Alex Baudin by 32 seconds.
Ploegleider Maarten Wynants commented on the race dynamics: “This stage could have unfolded in several ways, but in the end it made sense that the early breakaway stayed away today. With tomorrow’s team time trial on the horizon, few teams were interested in taking responsibility for the chase. It wasn’t our place to sacrifice riders in the peloton. This approach allowed us to conserve energy for tomorrow.”
Looking ahead, a key team time trial is scheduled for tomorrow, covering a challenging 28.4 kilometers that includes two climbs. Bruno Armirail, the French national time trial champion, expressed his anticipation for the event: “We’re at the start here with several riders who will also be racing the Tour de France, so tomorrow’s time trial is definitely a good test. You could see it as a rehearsal, but the most important thing is to deliver a strong performance tomorrow. We’re aiming for a top result. On paper, this course should suit me well, but we also have several strong climbers on the team. It’s going to be demanding, but I’ll do everything I can to stay with them on the climbs and contribute to the team effort.”
Team Visma | Lease a Bike will be looking to leverage their strong roster as they prepare for this crucial stage in the competition.
