Strong Van Dam sprints to sixth place in fourth stage of La Vuelta Femenina
# Sarah Van Dam Secures Sixth Place in Intense Fourth Stage of La Vuelta Femenina
The fourth stage of La Vuelta Femenina unfolded with a thrilling 115-kilometer journey from Monforte de Lemos to Antas de Ulla. Riders faced a challenging course featuring the Alto de Oural and a second climb, culminating in a slightly uphill sprint finish that saw Lotte Kopecky take the victory.
Canadian cyclist Sarah Van Dam delivered a strong performance, landing in sixth place by the end of the stage. In the overall standings, she maintains a position within the top five. Reflecting on her experience during the race, Van Dam noted, “Early in the race, many riders tried to get into the breakaway, but nothing succeeded. Eventually, everything came back together and we prepared for a bunch sprint. Unfortunately, I wasn’t well positioned today to compete for the win. I felt good again, so I’m already looking forward to the upcoming stages.”
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot also showcased her talent, finishing eleventh and moving up to ninth in the general classification. Looking ahead, she and the team remain optimistic about the remaining stages. Sports director Jos van Emden commented on the team’s performance, stating, “Today went smoothly for the team. Our plan was to be in the breakaway, but unfortunately we didn’t manage that. Sarah showed herself again in the finale, and Pauline also made a strong impression. We’re in a good position heading into the final weekend.”
As the race progresses, anticipation builds for the challenges that lay ahead. With continued determination and strength, both Van Dam and Ferrand-Prévot aim to further their standings in the competition.
