Strong teamwork earns Vos and Ferrand-Prévot podium finishes in Paris-Roubaix Femmes
# Vos and Ferrand-Prévot Shine with Podium Finishes at Paris-Roubaix Femmes
In a thrilling display of cycling prowess at the Paris-Roubaix Femmes, the yellow-and-black team of Marianne Vos and defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot made headlines with their strong teamwork and impressive finishes. Right from the start, the duo positioned themselves prominently at the front, navigating the challenging cobbled sectors with precision and speed.
As the race unfolded and the field began to split, Vos and Ferrand-Prévot maintained their presence at the front, setting a relentless pace that kept their competitors at bay. With just 46 kilometers remaining, a decisive break was executed, allowing the pair to accelerate ahead, joined only by Blanka Vas and Franziska Koch. However, it wasn’t long before Vas could no longer keep up, leaving the three to race towards the iconic Roubaix Velodrome.
In a nail-biting sprint to the finish, Vos narrowly missed out on the victory, crossing the line in second place. Reflecting on this close call, she remarked, “I’m happy with the race I rode, but when you come that close, it’s obviously disappointing. I noticed I could no longer produce the speed I wanted and felt that I was coming up short. Pauline and the whole team did a fantastic job, and then it’s frustrating not to be able to finish it off.”
Ferrand-Prévot echoed her sentiments, stating, “We did everything we could. I gave everything to help Marianne take the victory. I’m incredibly proud of the performance from our women’s team, and congratulations as well to Franziska Koch—she was very strong. We can look back on a good day.”
The final results saw Franziska Koch of FDJ United – SUEZ taking the win, with Vos finishing in second, just seconds behind, and Ferrand-Prévot claiming third, six seconds later.
This event showcased not only the strength of Vos and Ferrand-Prévot but also the unity and determination of their entire team, marking them as formidable contenders in women’s cycling.
