Team Visma | Lease a Bike sets sights on final stage of Coppi e Bartali
# Team Visma | Lease a Bike Prepares for Final Showdown at Coppi e Bartali
As the penultimate stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali unfolded, Team Visma | Lease a Bike demonstrated their strategic prowess amidst the challenges presented in the Italian terrain.
During the fourth stage, three riders attempted an early breakaway, but the peloton kept them on a short leash, preventing any substantial gap from forming. This ultimately led to a bunch sprint finish on a hilly circuit.
“The race was solid,” said sports director Robert Wagner in his post-race commentary. “We came through the stage unscathed and achieved our goal. As a team, we rode a solid race today. We stayed out of trouble, and that was the most important thing. Our focus now shifts to tomorrow.”
Axel Laurance from INEOS Grenadiers proved to be the strongest competitor, clinching victory on a day where the peloton remained intact until the final kilometer. Mauro Schmid (Team Jayco AlUla) and Riccardo Lorello (S.C. Padovani Polo Cherry Bank) rounded out the podium, both finishing with the same time as Laurance.
Looking ahead, the final stage, dubbed the queen stage of Coppi e Bartali, poses a significant challenge for the remaining contenders. “Tomorrow will be an important day for the general classification. We are well placed with Anton Schiffer and Elliot Rowe. We will do everything we can to go for a strong result,” Wagner added, signaling his team’s readiness for the crucial finale.
