In the inaugural stage of the highly anticipated Volta a Catalunya, Team Visma | Lease a Bike successfully maintained its position as five riders broke away early in the race. Despite the breakaway establishing a lead of over four minutes, they ultimately did not influence the outcome for the day’s stage win.

Amidst the frenzied finish, Team Visma’s yellow-and-black jerseys were strategically positioned near the front. Jonas Vingegaard showcased his impressive form, finishing with the leading pack, just behind the stage winner.

“It would be great to be able to fight for the win this week,” Vingegaard remarked, looking ahead with optimism.

Reflecting on the day’s performance, team director Marc Reef expressed satisfaction with their strategy: “Our goal today was to get Jonas safely to the finish. Vingegaard remains eager as the week progresses, optimistic despite the challenging stages ahead. “I’m really looking forward to this week. The field is very strong, but I feel ready. There are tough stages all week, with the final weekend being especially challenging,” he said.
