Vingegaard secures third consecutive Paris–Nice victory for Team Visma | Lease a Bike

# Vingegaard Claims Third Consecutive Paris–Nice Title for Team Visma

Jonas Vingegaard has triumphed in the prestigious Paris–Nice race, marking his third consecutive victory in this renowned cycling event under the Team Visma | Lease a Bike banner. The Danish cyclist expressed his relief and joy after achieving this milestone, stating, “It feels great to finally win Paris–Nice. It took a few attempts, but this time everything went according to plan. It’s a race where something always seemed to go wrong. Fortunately, this year all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. I’m extremely happy and proud. It’s already a great start to my season.”

The Race to the Sun concluded in Nice after a challenging 130-kilometer final stage, featuring four climbs. Vingegaard entered this decisive day as the leader of the general classification, boasting an impressive lead of 3’22”.

As the riders tackled the Col de la Porte, the initial climb of the day, the peloton began to thin out significantly. French cyclist Valentin Paret-Peintre attempted a solo attack, but Team Visma kept him within range. After a tactical effort from teammate Bruno Armirail, Paret-Peintre was caught at the foot of the final climb, the Côte du Linguador. Vingegaard was then launched into action by Victor Campenaerts. Only Martinez joined him on the steep ascent as they pushed towards the finish.

In the final sprint towards Nice, Vingegaard faced a narrow defeat to the Frenchman but maintained a secure grip on overall victory. This achievement marks the third consecutive overall win for the yellow-and-black squad, following Matteo Jorgenson’s stunning performances in 2024 and 2025.

Reflecting on the race, Vingegaard noted, “Of course I would have liked to take my third stage win here, but Lenny absolutely deserved it today. We really enjoyed racing aggressively with the team today. A stage win would have been the icing on the cake, but I’m extremely happy that I was able to secure the overall victory. That was the main goal today.”

Team sports director Marc Reef acknowledged Vingegaard’s determination throughout the competition, noting, “Jonas came here to win, that was clear. He was extremely motivated and passed that motivation on to his teammates. Compared to the same period last season, he’s stronger. He had a good winter and showed it right away. It’s great to win the first stage race of the season. In the coming days, he’ll start working toward his next goals, beginning with the Volta a Catalunya.”

With this victory, Vingegaard not only solidifies his status as a top contender but also sets the tone for an exciting season ahead.
