# Lotto Dstny and Maxim Van Gils Part Ways: A Mutual Decision Marking a New Chapter
Lotto Dstny has officially announced the departure of rider Maxim Van Gils, concluding a significant chapter in both the team’s and the cyclist’s histories. Stéphane Heulot, CEO of Lotto Dstny, expressed his sentiments regarding the split, saying, “Maxim came into our team as a young talent… With the help and guidance of the team, he made the step to the pro peloton in 2021 and proved to be a golden talent.” He added, “Over the past years, we have made it our mission to provide young talents with a home where they can grow and build their careers with the utmost professionalism.”
The decision to part ways was a mutual agreement reached between Van Gils, his management team A&J All Sports, and Lotto Dstny. Heulot acknowledged the emotional weight of the moment, stating, “Today it’s unfortunate that we part ways… If this change makes him happier and helps him to continue growing, we won’t stand in his way.” The focus remains on nurturing young talents, which is a cornerstone of the team’s philosophy.
Reflecting on his journey with Lotto Dstny, Van Gils expressed gratitude, stating, “Seven years is quite a long time… I’m super grateful that Lotto Dstny gave me the chance as one of their U23 riders to turn professional.” He emphasized the importance of the team in his development as a rider, concluding with, “I will always look back to this period with a big smile.”
Jannie Haek, CEO of the National Lottery, also commented on the team’s long-term vision, noting, “There’s a lot of work currently behind the scenes to make the step back to the World Tour level in 2026.” He reaffirmed the team’s commitment to developing young talent, stating, “…our strong foundation and commitment to developing young talent remain at the core of our identity.”
As both the team and Van Gils move forward into new opportunities, the future for both promises challenges and growth. The shared values of bravery and commitment remain at the heart of Lotto Dstny’s mission, ensuring that their trajectory continues to evolve positively.
