Valter on the offensive in opening stage of the Tour of Guangxi
# Valter Makes Waves in Tour of Guangxi’s First Stage
In the opening act of the Tour of Guangxi, Team Visma | Lease a Bike showcased their aggressive tactics by maintaining a prominent position in the peloton. Right from the start, Niklas Behrens set the pace for the Dutch squad, followed closely by Attila Valter, who later launched his own daring attack.
Valter broke away with an ambitious move 95 kilometers into the stage, forming a partnership with fellow rider Le Berre. Despite their efforts, the duo struggled to gain significant distance between themselves and the chasing peloton, ultimately getting caught with just twenty kilometers remaining. This led to an intense sprint finish where Paul Magnier emerged victorious.
“Luckily, both riders are okay,” said sports director Jesper Mørkøv, reflecting on the day’s events. He added, “We knew there was a good chance it would come down to a bunch sprint today. When Attila went on the attack, it quickly became clear that several teams had their eyes on a sprint finish.” The sprint saw notable attempts from Niklas Behrens and Dan McLay, both of whom unfortunately crashed during the final rush.
