In a thrilling final stage of the Dutch stage race, Nienke Veenhoven of Team Visma | Lease a Bike secured a commendable second place behind Lorena Wiebes from Team SD Worx – Protime. The stage, marked by challenging features like the Muur van Zeddam and various gravel sections, produced tense moments and minor splits within the peloton.
As expected, the conclusion of the race led to a bunch sprint, where Team Visma | Lease a Bike took charge, propelling Veenhoven into an excellent position for the sprint. Despite her team’s strategic efforts, she finished just seconds behind Wiebes.
“It’s a good result,” Veenhoven reflected post-race, sporting a smile. “As a team we did well today. We were exactly where we wanted to be in the final kilometer. Unfortunately, Lorena is very hard to beat at the moment, as she showed once again today. Maybe it wasn’t the very best week for us as a team, but today we really turned things around. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into the final races of the season.”
