Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women concludes road season with ninth place Veenhoven
Without Eva van Agt, who crashed yesterday, the yellow-black formation was determined to end the road season on a good note. The team showed its attacking intentions on the hilly course in Arnhem and jumped into the attack several times. Without success, as the stage again ended in a bunch sprint.Lotte Kopecky sprinted to stage victory to secure the overall classification. Veenhoven finished ninth. “It was a really tough day, but I think as a team we rode a good race”, Veenhoven said. She finished in the top ten for the fourth time. “I dare say I have really made a big step now. I hope to continue this line next season.”Sports director Jos van Emden looks back on an instructive week. “We started the race well, but then we had some bad days. Over the weekend, the ladies picked it up well again, so we still end the week on a positive note”, Van Emden said. “Especially Nienke has really shown that she can compete with the best. With two fourth places and a third place, she has taken a big step forward in her sprint work.”

For Markus and Henderson, it was the last race in the yellow-black colours. Both riders will make the switch to Team Lidl-Trek next season. “I’m glad the season is over, because it was a long season. At the same time, I am very sad that the last race with the team is behind us. I look back on the past four years with a lot of pleasure. The warm feeling certainly remains”, concluded Markus.Henderson concurs with her teammate’s words. “It feels a bit double. On the one hand, I’m looking forward to the holiday, but on the other, I realise I’ve ridden my last race for the team. I’m going to miss everyone in the team very much and am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given. I was there from the beginning, have seen the team grow and have developed into the rider I have now become.”
