Münsterland Giro: Jordi Meeus sprints to second place

Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe came close to celebrating a home win at the Münsterland Giro this year. In the end, team sprinter Jordi Meeus finished a brilliant second, only beaten by fellow Belgian Jasper Philipsen.The Münsterland Giro is one of Germany’s most important one-day races and also marks the end of the German racing season. The objective: to secure a top result with the fast classics specialists Danny van Poppel (Netherlands) and Jordi Meeus (Belgium). And they delivered: as the race came down to a mass sprint after 202 kilometers, the Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe lead-out train was perfectly positioned. Jordi Meeus even briefly took the lead but was overtaken by Jasper Philipsen in the final meters.
