Kooij takes stage win in fourth stage Tour de Pologne
The fourth stage in the Tour de Pologne took the peloton from Kudowa-Zdrój to Prudnik, where a first chance for the sprinters awaited. Along the way, Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s riders took control in the peloton. Entering the final kilometres, Kooij was in an excellent position. The young Dutchman sprinted convincing to his third stage victory in as many editions in Poland.
“I already had great memories from my previous participations here, so I am very happy to add another win”, Kooij said afterwards. “After several hard stages, we knew there was a chance for me today. It was a nervous final, but I was perfectly placed going into the final kilometer. I’m happy I could finish it off for the team today.”
“The previous stages already went extremely well for us”, Kooij added. “With Jonas and Wilco Kelderman, we are in an excellent position in the general classification. Today we went for the stage win and we succeeded. Tomorrow it could turn into a sprint again. I’m looking forward to that.”
