Josie Nelson powers to British U23 National TT Title in Catterick
This afternoon in the village of Catterick, Josie Nelson powered around the hilly time trial course, setting the timing sheets alight and becoming the British U23 national champion as she crossed the finish line.
After claiming her first win as a professional earlier this year at the Tour de Normandie Féminin, it’s Nelson’s second victory in Team dsm-firmenich PostNL colours. In her first participation at the national U23 championships, Nelson was motivated to show herself on home roads. Riding to the pacing plan perfectly, Nelson put on a dominant display of power over the hilly 30-kilometre route. Using the knowledge gained from the team’s experts throughout the season, Nelson flew around the course and claimed the title by over one minute and fifty seconds ahead of her nearest rival.
After her win, Nelson said, “It was a great course, with a few steep descents into sharp corners and then mostly rolling roads. I’ve worked a lot with the team on my TT bike this year, so seeing the improvements is nice. We had a good pacing plan in place, and I could even push more than we had expected. I am happy to take the title at my first participation in the National TT Championships.”
