“I’m more than happy to be lining up at the start of a race again. In my misfortune at the time of my fall, I was lucky not to have had any ligament or muscle damage. I was able to recover quickly and get back to training: first on the home-trainer, then on the road. I’m a robust person who recovers quickly. Mentally, I was obviously disappointed at the shock: it was my first classic, and I’d made sacrifices to prepare for it as well as possible. This convalescence allowed me to put things into perspective: I took the opportunity to recharge my batteries and spend time with my loved ones. During this time, I received support from the whole ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team, from our General Manager Emmanuel Hubert, from the staff and from my team-mates. That helped me a lot, and all I could think about now was getting back on track. This Italian event is a great opportunity to get back into the swing of things. I’ll be racing with the riders from the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team, so it’s obviously strange to be surrounded by all these young people, but I’m approaching it without any pressure. I’m keen to do well: to get results if possible, to make an effort to get myself in good condition and help others”.
