Phil Bauhaus Secures 3rd Place on Stage 6 at UAE Tour
Phil Bauhaus impressed in the final sprint stage of the UAE Tour, claiming third place on the podium at Abu Dhabi Breakwater. Bauhaus showcased his sprinting skills at the same location where he emerged victorious back in 2018 during the Abu Dhabi Tour. The race, known for attracting top sprinters in the WorldTour, provided Bauhaus with multiple opportunities across the seven stages, resulting in consistent top 10 placements.
During the intense sprint, Bauhaus’s team showed patience in positioning him well to compete. Despite a commendable effort, Merlier from Soudal Quick-Step continued to display exceptional form and secured his third stage win at the UAE Tour. Reflecting on his performance, Bauhaus expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress in leading him towards the podium and expressed hope that it would bolster their confidence for the upcoming challenge on Jebel Hafeet to place Pello Bilbao on the overall podium.
“Every day we made improvement with our lead out and today was the best team effort and I’m also happy I could bring a podium home,” Bauhaus shared. “I mean, it was difficult to win here, and also, I have to say I was missing the speed a little bit in the end to have the kick for the sprint and was tired from the last days. But yes, I think we can be happy with the podium, I mean, Merlier was again the strongest today, and so I am happy to finish third. It’s also a good morale boost for tomorrow, as we have Pello in a good position for the GC, so I hope he can make a podium as well.”
