Lennert Van Eetvelt Claims Victory in Trofeo Serra Tramuntana
Lennert Van Eetvelt has emerged victorious at the Trofeo Serra Tramuntana, showcasing his strength in a challenging mountain stage as he outperformed his competitors Aleksandr Vlasov and Brandon McNulty in a thrilling sprint finish.
The race saw Jonas Gregaard leading the early flight, followed by a standout performance from Van Eetvelt in the mountain stage. After a strong display on the Coll Puig Major, Van Eetvelt bridged the gap to join Vlasov and McNulty at the front of the pack.
Reflecting on his triumphant victory, Van Eetvelt attributed his success to “luck and good legs,” emphasizing the improvements in his climbing abilities compared to the previous year. He expressed, “I had a great day, luck was on my side and I have to admit that I climbed better than last year. I became stronger in the winter.”
Despite facing formidable climbers in Vlasov and McNulty, Van Eetvelt remained confident in his sprinting abilities, stating, “I’m often faster than other climbers, so I started my sprint with confidence. I am very happy that I can beat these two strong men.”
As the first win for both Van Eetvelt and Lotto Dstny in 2024, the victory holds significant importance. Van Eetvelt expressed, “It really means a lot to me to win today, the pressure is off now. It’s important to win early in the season.”
