Kazakh rider Daniil Marukhin (24) is set to join the WorldTour with Astana Qazaqstan Team. Marukhin has signed a two-year deal with the Kazakh project, which will see him ride for the team in 2024 and 2025.
Marukhin expressed his excitement about joining Astana Qazaqstan Team, stating, “Signing a contract with Astana Qazaqstan Team is a big step for me. From the early years of my career, I had a clear goal – to become a professional rider, to get to Astana, to wear the jersey of the main cycling team of Kazakhstan. Over the past few years, I have seriously improved, and now I am very happy that I can continue my work, the path to my goals in one of the best teams in the world. I know that I can prove myself in the WorldTour and achieve my personal results. I am looking forward to the new season, I have a serious attitude and great motivation.”
Marukhin has already had a successful career, with notable achievements in continental teams from Kazakhstan. In 2023, he won the Tour of Van, Grand Prix Kültepe, and finished third in the 100th Anniversary Tour of Republic in Turkey. He also performed well in the General Classification of the Tour of Iran and Aziz Shusha, finishing in sixth place. Marukhin has also reached the podium in the Kazakhstan National Championships and U23 Asian Cycling Championships.
Commenting on Marukhin’s signing, Alexandr Vinokurov, General Manager of Astana Qazaqstan Team, said, “Over the past two years, Daniil has shown himself really well in the continental calendar, so it is quite logical that the moment has come when the rider got his chance in the main domestic team in the UCI WorldTour. We have been following Daniel’s performances and progress for a long time, his growth is obvious. Of course, the WorldTour is a completely different world, which requires selfless work and full dedication to cycling. But the athlete demonstrates high motivation and desire to work in order to become a good professional rider.”
Marukhin’s arrival adds a promising talent to the Astana Qazaqstan Team roster, and fans can expect to see his development and achievements in the upcoming seasons.
