Mountainous Stacked Climbing Team Prepares for Il Lombardia

The Jayco AlUla cycling team is gearing up for the final monument of the season, the 117th edition of Il Lombardia, with a powerhouse lineup of climbers ready to tackle the challenging 238km course.

Leading the team is Simon Yates, who will be joined by Filippo Zana, Chris Harper, and Eddie Dunbar. With a total of 4400 altitude meters to conquer along the route from Como to Bergamo, the team aims to give the Australian outfit multiple options for success.

The key climbs to watch out for during the race include the challenging Madonna del Ghisallo, the Passo di Ganda, and the tricky cobbled section of Largo Colle Aperto.

Zana, confident in his performance, shared his thoughts on the race after a reconnaissance ride of the final 80 kilometers. He said, “In the previous races, the sensations were good, and without bad luck, the results would have been better so I will be at the start, aware that I can have a good race.”

Sport Director David McPartland expressed his excitement about the team’s composition, stating, “We have a really strong team for Lombardia. A squad built especially for this race with the strongest climbing group ever. Yates, Dunbar, Zana, and Harper are all riders who should be in the finale when the race enters its decisive phase. All the boys are super motivated, they have raced really well together during this recent Italian block and we hope to finish it off well and achieve a good result in Bergamo.”
