Sénéchal achieves top-five finish in Mont-de-l’Enclus

The 82nd edition of the Circuito Franco-Belge saw Florian Sénéchal of the Soudal Quick-Step team finish in an impressive fifth place. Sénéchal’s performance marked his second top-ten finish of the month.

The race, which spanned 190.6km between Tournai and Mont-de-l’Enclus, featured challenging climbs throughout, leading to a lively competition from the start. Sénéchal and teammate Dries Devenyns were among those who attempted to break away from the peloton.

Although their efforts eventually yielded to a strong group that managed to distance themselves from the chasing pack, Soudal Quick-Step was well-represented, with three riders in the leading group. Stan Van Tricht made a speculative attack on the uphill stretch towards the finish line, which paved the way for further attacks.

In the end, it was Arnaud De Lie of the Lotto-Dstny team who emerged victorious. Sénéchal crossed the line in fifth place, adding to his ninth-place finish at the Super 8 Classic earlier in the month. Teammate Yves Lampaert also secured a spot in the top ten, finishing in eighth place.

The race organizers paid tribute to Dries Devenyns, who was honored for his career at the team presentation before his final race in Belgium after nearly two decades as a professional cyclist.
