Tim van Dijke narrowly misses stage victory in Tour of Luxembourg
Tim van Dijke came close to clinching a stage victory in the second stage of the Tour of Luxembourg. Despite heavy rain and tough conditions, Van Dijke had a strong performance and was within reach of the win. However, he was ultimately passed by Jenthe Biermans and Søren Kragh Andersen just meters before the finish line.
Speaking about the race, Van Dijke expressed his gratitude for the team’s support and his determination to improve. “I am happy that the team gave me another chance today,” he said. “Unfortunately, I didn’t have the proper acceleration in my legs. I still need to get stronger.”
The upcoming stages of the tour will present more challenges, including the Montée de Niklosbierg climb, which will be tackled three times in the final. Van Dijke is focused on helping his teammate Tiesj Benoot perform well in the general classification. “Tomorrow, I will do everything possible to put Tiesj in the best possible position at the important points. The goal for the rest of the week is to help him finish as high as possible in the GC,” he stated.
The Škoda Tour Luxembourg is an important event in the World Tour men’s cycling calendar. The current leader in the general classification is Søren Kragh Andersen of Alpecin-Deceuninck.
