INEOS Grenadiers finish eighth in rain-soaked team time trial at La Vuelta
The INEOS Grenadiers faced a challenging start to La Vuelta as they finished eighth in a rain-soaked team time trial along the streets of Barcelona. Despite the difficult conditions, the team put in a strong performance, finishing just 20 seconds behind the stage winners.
The race was marred by unfortunate circumstances as Laurens de Plus crashed early on and had to abandon the race. Additionally, Filippo Ganna suffered a puncture. However, the Grenadiers pushed on, showing resilience and determination.
Despite the setbacks, the team managed to stay competitive and crossed the intermediate time check only 15 seconds behind the leaders. The treacherous course, with standing water on many corners, posed a challenge for all the teams.
Nonetheless, the Grenadiers showcased their expertise and limited their losses to just five seconds in the second half of the course. This strong effort was commendable considering the unfavorable weather conditions.
While the team may have hoped for a better result, their performance in the rain-soaked team time trial sets a positive tone for the rest of La Vuelta. The INEOS Grenadiers will be looking to bounce back and make their mark in the upcoming stages of the race.
