Vuelta a España Stage 6: Another Mountain Test for Evenepoel and Rivals

Stage 6 at the Vuelta a España will feature the second mountain finish of the opening week of racing. This time, the finish will be at the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre, and it will be a crucial moment for the current Vuelta leader, Remco Evenepoel of Soudal-Quickstep.

Evenepoel has the option to extend his lead in the general classification by putting more time into his rivals or choosing to give the jersey away to the breakaway. The overall classification contenders are already familiar with each other’s strengths on the ascent after the summit finish on stage 3 to Arinsal in Andorra.

During that stage, Evenepoel won the dash to the top, beating Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard of Jumbo-Visma and taking an early lead in the GC. Stage 6 will provide another opportunity for Evenepoel and his rivals to test their legs in the mountains.

It will be an exciting stage as the climbers battle it out for stage victory and make their moves in the general classification. Expect strong performances from Evenepoel and other contenders like Vingegaard, who will be eager to challenge the current leader.
