Cycling News: Clément Berthet Shines in Skoda Tour Luxembourg
Clément Berthet, a promising young rider, impressed at the first stage of the Skoda Tour Luxembourg, finishing in third place and earning the title of best young rider. This marked Berthet’s first podium finish since the start of his professional career.
Reflecting on his achievement, Berthet expressed his satisfaction, saying, “It’s great to get this result after a complicated year. Victory wasn’t far away, but Groupama-FDJ played very well in the final and Valentin Madouas was strong. We had a great day collectively, and it’s great to be rewarded with a podium.”
Despite facing challenges earlier in the season, including breaking his finger in the Vuelta a Burgos, Berthet showcased his resilience and determination. He added, “Personally, I had a great feeling on this stage. It makes me happy to have managed to get back to a level like this. It bodes well for the future.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming stages, Berthet expressed his optimism, stating, “We’ll be aiming for a stage win, but we’ll also be looking for a good overall finish. Even though the individual time trial will make for good gaps, it’s always interesting to have taken a few bonus seconds.”
Furthermore, Berthet’s outstanding performance earned him the white jersey, symbolizing his status as the best young rider in the first stage. With a third-place overall standing, he currently trails the leader by 13 seconds.
The Skoda Tour Luxembourg continues to captivate cycling enthusiasts as it unfolds, promising more thrilling moments and exciting battles on the road.
